High School friendships are built on,common interest, school work, and sexual health adviceYou know what I loved about high school, other than the obvious getting out of high school; it's the advice the senior girls gave in the restroom. Those girls were experienced, answering questions and giving advice on issues like hygiene and sex, the good, bad, and the ugly. Even though I enjoyed listening to them, I never really took them seriously because as inexperienced as I was, some of the advice were a little too "dangerous" for me. For example, don't have sex on a moving dryer (because you'll get burned) or how drinking bleach and vinegar was equivalent to the abortion pill. Yes, these girls knew a lot more than I did, I often wonder where they learned all these life lessons from and if other people received the same advice I did. And in case you didn't, don't worry because here are 5 Interesting Sex Advice I Got In High School via. the girl's restroom: 1. Don't accept french fries from boys *especially Senior boys*Accepting means, giving them something in return. *starts with an S or an O* 2. If you have a heavy flow, wear two padsBecause its supposed to help with leaking AND it apparently helps to reduce cramping and the number of days i.e 7 day flow becomes 3 days *Note* Don't double pad, can cause a yeast infection and its unhealthy* 3. Don't have sex in dirty places i.e under the auditorium stageBasically, it's unhygienic and gross. "Also, if your partner wants to have sex in a dirty place then they don't respect you, be with someone who respects you"- Girl from Yearbook, '07 4. Always shave your pubsApparently, only dirty girls have pubic hair. If you don't want to be seen as dirty, shave your pubs and hair grosses boys out. *Note* Do you, if you like your hair, that is all that matters* 5. To be on the safe side, do a handstand after sexLegend has it, sperm can't swim upstream so doing a handstand kills the sperm and you won't get pregnant. After reading these, I wonder what advice the boys got? Were they told to sleep with their partners in dirty places to be cool? Did they really care about pubic hair? I think in high school we're all trying to explore and figure out who we are that we often get "lost" in that thing called "The High School Life." Interestingly enough, all the life lessons I learned helped us build our blog, enabled us to comment with other's who've gone through the same thing, and also, it made us realize how flawed our Sexual Health Education system is.
I admit that I followed 3 out of the 5. 1. Don't accept fries from guys (I wouldn't even let my boyfriends buy me fries and I'm weary when I guy wants to give me something for free). 2. Shave your pubs ( I think that is/was the societal norm and I didn't want to be labeled dirty back in the day). 3. Sex in a dirty place ( Not exactly the sex part mainly the date someone who respects you). *Watch out for next week's," Awkward things I learned about Sexual Health in Sex Ed" *
